Therapist Qualifications

Speech Therapist:

  • Education Requirements: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
  • License Requirements: Licensed with the State of Minnesota Department of Health (temporary license, if CFY), licensed by the Minnesota Department of Education (for school therapists), American Speech and Language Certification, and membership (CCC) is preferred.
  • Responsibilities: Evaluate and treat children with speech/language/feeding delays/disorders; consultation and parent education; documentation of all services provided in a timely and professional manner; and compliance with ASHA code of ethics and State of MN practice guidelines.
  • Experience: Pediatric experience is required. Outpatient and feeding experience is preferred.

Occupational Therapist:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts degree, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • License Requirements: Licensed with the State of Minnesota Department of Health as an occupational therapist; certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Responsibilities: Evaluate and treat children with sensory/motor/ADL/feeding delays/disorders; consultation and parent education; documentation of all services provided in a timely and professional manner; and compliance with AOTA’s code of ethics and MN state guidelines.
  • Experience: Pediatric experience is required. Feeding experience is preferred.

Physical Therapist:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • License Requirements: Licensed with the State of Minnesota Department of Health.
  • Responsibilities: Evaluate and treat children with neurological and orthopedic delays/disorders; consultation and parent education; documentation of all services provided in a timely and professional manner; and compliance with APTA’s code of ethics and MN state guidelines.
  • Experience: Pediatric experience is required.

Registered Dietitian:

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian; completion of a coordinated program in Dietetics, dietetic internship, or approved pre-professional practice program. Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • License Requirements: Licensed in Minnesota.
  • Responsibilities: Assess nutritional needs, identify nutritional requirements according to age and disease, determine nutritional diagnosis, develop and implement nutrition plans of care, evaluate and monitor the outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention, and provide nutrition education and support to patients and families to accomplish patient goals. Member of the tube weaning team.
  • Experience: Pediatric experience and experience with tube feeding is required.
