Social Skills Groups
Social skills groups focus on developing and working on strategies for optimal socialization.
Therapists use a variety of play-based approaches, including the How Does Your Engine Run?® / Zones of Regulation programs, to teach self-regulation and coping strategies within a social environment. Parents and caregivers are provided with strategies to promote optimal carry over of skills learned at home. Learning such skills has shown to improve:
- Teamwork
- Problem solving
- Conflict resolution
- Listening skills
- Perspective taking
- Conversation skills
Social skills groups take place each summer and are facilitated by an occupational and/or speech therapist. Each course is specifically formed and implemented to meet the unique needs of the children in that group.

"This has been a wonderful experience for my child. Skills taught are exactly what she needed. Please continue this during the school year. Great job! Thank you!"
