ABOUT CAPERNAUM
Who We Are
Helping families find joy in their journey by serving children where they live, learn, and play!
Capernaum was founded by physical therapists driven by a shared desire to help families find joy in their journey. Their mission centered on meeting families where they are and creating a flexible, supportive work environment for therapists.
In 2021, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare acquired Capernaum to further expand this vision—supporting families beyond hospital walls and into the communities where they live.
Our Philosophy
At Capernaum, we believe that every life holds inherent value and deserves respect. The well-being of each child—and their family—is the guiding principle behind every decision we make. We are committed to honoring the dignity, potential, and unique needs of every individual we serve.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide professional, compassionate, and cost-effective pediatric services that help children reach their fullest potential. In a world of limited healthcare resources, we strive to be responsible stewards of time, finances, and services, ensuring that every family receives exceptional care.
Our Commitment to Families
Families consistently tell us they feel safe, accepted, and hopeful at Capernaum. They share that the joy and dedication of our therapists brightens their lives. We promise to deliver outstanding service to every child and family, supporting them as they work toward their goals.
Our Commitment to Staff
We aim to cultivate a work environment where professional growth is encouraged, integrity is upheld, and family is valued. We treat every staff member and client with respect, fostering a culture where expertise, compassion, and collaboration thrive.
Capernaum continues to thrive under the leadership of Ali Bicek, an experienced occupational therapist who has been serving families with Capernaum since 2001. Her long-standing commitment and deep understanding of the organization’s mission help ensure that its founding values remain at the heart of its growth.
Capernaum is closed on:
New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day

The name Capernaum is from the Bible. It is a town on the Sea of Galilee where Jesus performed many miracles! Here, the disciples were arguing as to which of them was greater, and Jesus took a child in His arms and said, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming my Father who sent me!” (Mark 9:37a)
Our logo depicts a child-like drawing of a boat on the Sea of Galilee; the mast is a cross. Although our company operates on Christian principles, our clients and staff come from various faiths and cultures. All children and families are valued and welcome at Capernaum!
